Umdat al-Ahkam (al-Maqdisi) 54عمدة الأحكام 54
عن علي - رضي الله عنه -: أن النبي - صلى الله عليه وسلم - قال يوم الخندق: «ملأ الله قبورهم وبيوتهم نارا، كما شغلونا عن الصلاة الوسطى حتى غابت الشمس». وفي لفظ لمسلم «شغلونا عن الصلاة الوسطى - صلاة العصر - ثم صلاها بين المغرب والعشاء».
Narrated `Ali bin Abi Talib: We were in the company of the Prophet (ﷺ) on the day (of the battle) of Al-Khandaq (the Trench). The Prophet said, "May Allah fill their (the infidels') graves and houses with fire, as they have kept us so busy that we could not offer the middle prayer till the sun had set; and that prayer was the `Asr prayer."
